Celebrate STEM Day with the National Inventors Hall of Fame

In celebration of National STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Day Nov. 8, everyone at the National Inventors Hall of Fame® is applauding the incredible educators who make all our education programs possible. For over 30 years, we have had the privilege of partnering with local educators nationwide in providing programs including Camp Invention® and Invention Project®, and cultivating learning environments where children feel safe to collaborate and take creative risks.

No matter what careers children might pursue in the future — even careers that do not yet exist today — an effective way for educators to set their students up for success is to help them develop essential life skills. With help from some of the world’s most accomplished innovators, our National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees, we’ve identified a set of skills that can help children navigate their lives and unlock their creative potential. Together, these skills form the I Can Invent® Mindset.

Practiced and promoted by inventors whose innovations have changed the world, the components of this mindset are integrated within all National Inventors Hall of Fame education programs. The sooner teachers are able to introduce their students to this mindset through invention education, the more positive an effect it will have on their lives. Research from Opportunity Insights supports this, and found that exposure to innovation at an early age significantly increases the likelihood children will innovate as they age.
