Reinvent Recess with Camp Invention Games
Each summer our team of education experts reimagines the curriculum of our flagship STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program, Camp Invention®. Throughout our extensive 20-month curriculum development process, we create activities that are designed to inspire the next generation of innovators.
Included in our all-new Camp Invention program, Elevate, is a collection of 87 interactive activities we call Camp Invention Games™. Read below to learn more about this fun-filled program.
Everyone’s a winner!
Camp Invention Games gives campers the opportunity to practice teamwork, cooperation and coordination skills while engaging in energetic activities. Instead of worrying about winning or losing, these games encourage children to develop their creative problem-solving skills.
Just like inventions, each of these 10 to 15-minute challenges can be modified and reimagined. Our games don’t need to be played in any particular order, so each day, educators can determine their game selections based on their students’ needs and that day’s weather forecast.
All the games fall into four different categories:
- Wet Games include a water component and are perfect for helping children cool off during a hot day.
- High-Energy Games get everyone up and moving.
- Team-Building Games are meant to give children the opportunity to work through challenges together.
- Small-Space Games are ideal for program locations that do not have large game-playing areas, such as gymnasiums or outdoor spaces.
Research has shown that the act of play benefits children’s health, learning ability and critical social skills. With this in mind, our education team has worked hard to create a collection of activities that are valuable on their own and can strengthen the effectiveness of the other modules within our new Elevate program.
