Explore All-New Adventures With Camp Invention’s 2022 Curriculum

School districts across the country have already begun signing up to run the all-new 2022 Camp Invention®, the K-6 summer STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program from the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF).

For more than 30 years, this acclaimed summer enrichment experience has inspired children through its blend of engaging, hands-on activities developed in collaboration with the world’s greatest inventors, our NIHF Inductees. Each year’s brand-new curriculum results from a 20-month development process, aligns to national and state standards, and is differentiated to meet the needs of primary and intermediate students in both in-person and at-home settings.

This summer’s all-new program, Explore, offers easy-to-implement STEM activities that empower children to embrace their natural curiosity and develop the confidence to become the innovators of tomorrow.

Read below to learn more about each of Explore’s exciting new modules.

Robotic Aquatics

Children dive into the science of cutting-edge ocean research robots in Robotic Aquatics! They each receive a mini tank and create a scenic habitat for their own aquatic friend. They design and patent new aquatic plants and add special features to their tanks — including a symbiotic Best Friend Forever! Influenced by deep-sea research, children create the next great bio-inspired aquatic innovation to lure in and hook investors at the fish market! At the end of the program, children get to take their aquatic animal home in their mini tank.

Spacecation

To explore beyond Earth’s atmosphere, children blast off for a Spacecation! Inspired by real-world discoveries on distant planets, asteroids and moons, campers engage in science-rich activities like constructing their own Spacepacks and Astro-Arm devices to help them get a grip on everything from gravity-defying cooking to glow-in-the-dark lunar discoveries to erupting ice volcanoes. Before returning to Earth, they mine an asteroid for the ultimate payload and collect data on how an animal hatches from an egg and grows in space.

NIHF’s The Attic

Art and STEM combine to create an immersive experience in NIHF’s The Attic! Children solve riddles to find some of the inventions that have changed the way people create, from xanthan gum — a key ingredient in watercolor paint — to the sewing machine. They explore how these inventions work and then experiment to develop a deeper understanding of materials science, chemistry and art. Campers play, explore and build their own robotic artist to create fun spin art as they nurture the idea that everyone is creative.

Marble Arcade

Children zigzag through physics, engineering and gaming in Marble Arcade! To explore how mass and size affect movement and motion, children build their own mega marble arcade. Using scientific principles like potential and kinetic energy, they roll different gaming spheres fast, and then slow. As children team up to construct and test a collaborative marble arcade, exciting design challenges take them out of the digital world and into hands-on problem solving, turning science into a marble-ous experience!
