Behind the NIHF Scenes

The Impact of Camp Invention in 2019

As the 2019 season of Camp Invention® comes to a close, and campers return to school filled with inspirational lessons from our world-changing National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF) Inductees, we remain grateful to the 20,000 local educators and staff members we’ve been fortunate to partner with during the camp’s more than three-decade history. With programs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington D.C., Camp Invention has reached 165,000 children nationwide – and we’re just getting started.

Part of what makes Camp Invention so special is that each year brings with it a brand new curriculum developed by the expert education team at NIHF. Each of the curriculum’s modules cultivates a child’s growth mindset, builds their confidence and encourages them to confront complex problems by inventing creative solutions. By helping students develop 21st-century skills like collaboration, creative problem solving and intellectual property literacy, we help prepare the next generation to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

While we prepare next summer’s brand-new Camp Invention program, we encourage you to read about the experiences of a few of our satisfied educators!

“As a first-time Director, everything was made easy for me by Camp Invention. All the activities were engaging and fun for students and easily implemented by instructors with everything ‘ready to go.’”

Manda S., Camp Invention Director

“The [students] are completely engaged from the minute they get there until the minute they leave. It really is a great week.”

Cindy T., Camp Invention Instructor

“The activities and the skills that children learn at Camp Invention really transfer to the outside world. They’re encouraged to come up with ideas, brainstorm, hypothesize and make mistakes — it’s all part of the learning process!”

Tania G., Camp Invention Director

“I love seeing the innovative and inventive creations campers produce and genuinely enjoy watching the older students step in as leaders and teachers throughout the week of camp.”

Heather F., Camp Invention Instructor

“The National Inventors Hall of Fame program exceedingly met the areas of creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking. The students were excited about coming to school, unheard of for summer school, and want this program next year.”

Sam G., Principal

“These kids are so filled with enthusiasm and excitement because they are experiencing and seeing things for the first time.”

Monica Jarvis., Camp Invention Instructor
