Leading Summer Camp Makes Inventing Relatable and Fun
NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Oct. 9, 2026 — For more than 35 years, Camp Invention® has developed confidence and problem-solving skills in young innovators through authentic, hands-on STEM activities. In the newly announced 2027 program, Gear Up, campers will investigate the ooey-gooey world of chemistry, build a superstructure and turn big ideas into entrepreneurial success!
Camp Invention, a program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame® in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, provides a unique experience for children to make discoveries about the importance of intellectual property while exploring, creating and designing. Camp promotes STEM learning; builds leadership, perseverance and resourcefulness; and encourages entrepreneurship — in an exciting and engaging environment.
“My daughter came home beaming with excitement, eager to share all the amazing things she was learning,” said the parent of a 2026 camper. “It’s been beautiful to see her confidence and love for learning blossom.”
Each year, the program features a new curriculum inspired by some of our nation’s greatest innovators — the National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees. For 2027, the Gear Up curriculum features exclusive video content from these Inductees encouraging children to be confident in their ideas and explore their ability to innovate. These hands-on experiences include:
- Ooze and Aahs™: Kids explore ooey-gooey chemistry and biology by investigating slimy samples; examining insect anatomy; and creating a racing bioinspired innovation.
- Stuck!™: Campers get down to business and become budding entrepreneurs by earning rewards they can save or spend on materials to design a new product for the market.
- Gadget Garage™: Kids team up with friends; use real tools while exploring motors, lights and gears; then combine them to assemble a spinning Etch-n-Glow™ Wand.
- New Heights™: Campers design sustainable superstructures inspired by real-world architecture and rise to the challenge of building a motorized elevator.
Local programs are facilitated and taught by qualified local educators. Annually, Camp Invention programs benefit 135,000 children and partner with 2,600 schools and districts across the nation. Educators and school districts can partner with Camp Invention in 2027 by visiting invent.org/camp.
