In one of four brand-new experiences, campers will explore the exciting world of entrepreneurship and catch their first big break in Make Waves™! Read on to learn how children will splash into hands-on physics experiments, commercialize their inventions, build an innovative billboard boat and uncover an ocean of opportunities.
Take Risks to Catch Big Waves
In Make Waves, campers dive into entrepreneurship concepts as they embark on the ultimate invention journey! Inspired by National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductee Tom Blake and his surfboard innovations, children discover the amazing science that will keep their own inventions afloat.
Campers splash into hands-on physics experiments as they explore buoyancy concepts, collaborate to tackle challenges and make discoveries that will inspire future product design! First, they team up to construct an aluminum foil boat design, then discover how much weight their boat can hold before it sinks. From design engineering to materials science, children bring STEM to life as they sketch, design and build one-of-a-kind prototypes. While uncovering the similarities between catching a wave and creating an invention, campers learn how taking calculated risks can have big rewards!
Like surfers moving from the safety of the shore to the rush of breaking waves, campers explore innovation through the lens of a surfer’s journey as they ride the exciting waves of entrepreneurship. Paddling their way through salty challenges, campers generate unique ideas, conduct market research and pitch their prototypes to hook investors. To commercialize their inventions and “make waves” in the market, children spark their creativity and design an eye-catching billboard boat to advertise their innovative products as they set sail to catch the attention of customers on the beach!
