International Museum Day 2019

Explore the National Monument to Innovation® — the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF) Museum — on Saturday, May 18 to celebrate International Museum Day!

Last year, over 40,000 museums from 168 countries around the world participated in International Museum Day.

Created by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), International Museum Day is a way to celebrate cultural institutions globally. Each year, the council selects a theme that is at the heart of the campaign. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition.”

Raising awareness of museums as an important part of cultural exchange and enrichment, the objective of this day is to develop mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among cultures.

Just in time for International Museum Day, the NIHF Museum has unveiled several new exhibitions including our 2019 Inductee Exhibition, highlighting the newest class of world-changer inventors through their unique stories, artifacts and videos.

Can’t make it to the museum?  You can also explore the NIHF Museum digitally through a recent partnership with Google Arts & Culture. The museum has been brought to life online for you to explore anytime, anywhere through your smartphone or computer.
