Celebrate the End of the School Year With Hands-On STEM Adventures!

The end of each school year marks an exciting time for both teachers and students. As another academic chapter closes, the promise of sweet summertime lies ahead. This is a moment to look back on all you and your kids have accomplished.

To celebrate these successes and mix some fun into your learning at the close of the year, we’ve compiled a list of fun, easy-to-implement STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities both you and your students will love. Check them out below and follow the links for full activity details!

Create a Solar Oven Made for Sweetness

The summer sunshine encourages us to think about all the ways we benefit from the sun’s warm rays. With this sweet activity that combines sunlight and chocolate, your students can harness solar power to make tasty treats, discovering how world-changing inventors have found ways to use the sun’s energy as well.

Grow Connections to the Food We Eat

Your students can learn about the persistence and care it takes to grow plants and develop a green thumb as they build their own mini greenhouse, then grow their own mini bean and/or pea plants. With this activity, they’ll uncover how National Inventors Hall of Fame® Inductee George Washington Carver had an immense impact on the foods we grow and enjoy today.

Construct Creative Coasters

Your students will experience physics through exciting twists, turns and drops by constructing their very own roller coaster for epic fun. Using foam pipe insulation, chart paper and a marble, they’ll test how to put objects in motion and find out what makes them stop moving, too. They give their coaster extreme elements as they experiment with loops, curves and rotations on their track.

Dive Deep Into the Twilight Zone

With this awesome aquatic activity, your students take a deep dive into ocean research by uncovering natural adaptive innovation. They’ll investigate the fascinating part of the ocean known as the twilight zone by designing the ultimate fish to survive in this region. Then, they’ll create an innovative device that would allow them to bring living sea creatures back to the lab to study.

Keep the Love of Learning Going!

We can’t wait to see you this summer for more high-energy STEM fun at Camp Invention®!
