Independent Inventors Conference
The Florida Regional Independent Inventors Conference will be held April 27-28, 2012 at the Embassy Suites located on the campus of the University of South Florida. This regional event is co-sponsored by Invent Now and the National Academy of Inventors. Senior USPTO officials, successful inventors and intellectual property experts will be on hand to provide practical advice and information for novice and seasoned inventors.

A pre-conference workshop on April 26 from 5-7pm is included in the registration fee. It will cover the basics of the patent process. If you cannot attend, the session on basics will be repeated as a breakout session on April 27.

The morning plenary speakers are still being finalized and will be available soon.

Afternoon breakout sessions will provide basic patent information, basic trademark information, searching session for patent and trademarks, advanced patent prosecution, insight on the America Invents Act (AIA) and local resources available to inventors.

Space is limited so register early. The registration fee is $80.00 per person. The registration fee includes all sessions and presentations, morning and afternoon refreshment, lunch both days and a networking reception on April 27.

The USPTO has launched a computer based training program to assist novice and independent inventors.   The first video training session, entitled “From Concept to Protection” is available on the USPTO website and provides useful information on a range of topics including:  inventor’s notebooks, provisional applications for patents, non-provisional patent applications, design patent applications, and the Patent Cooperation Treaty.  The USPTO plans to offer additional on-line sessions in the future.
